Utah Named Most Energy Efficienct State
A study was recently published by WalletHub that takes a closer look at energy efficiency throughout the U.S. The results show the rankings of states according to their home and auto efficiency, and Utah ranked first overall in home efficiency.
Energy is expensive. It’s one of the biggest expenses in the household. The average family spends at least $2,000 per year on utilities according to the U.S Department of Energy.
But what does Energy Efficiency Mean? Energy Efficiency is the process of reducing the amount of energy required to provide products and services. Essentially, using less energy to get the same job done – and in the process, cutting energy bills and reducing pollution. One way to use less energy is to make a more energy efficient home. Simple DIY’s such as more insulation or caulking around gaps is a good choice that would allow warm or cold air to leave the home and keep it properly insulated. Unplugging unused appliances and turning your thermostat down just two degrees in the winter or up two degrees in the summer can also save energy.
Energy Rated Homes of Utah works to promote affordable, energy-efficient housing throughout Utah, and encourage energy conservation in all areas of the housing industry.
