Data is all around us. In letters, numbers, ideas, facts, figures, symbols, and media. Implementing data in life is essential because it helps make informed decisions, find solutions to problems, back up arguments, allows you to improve your strengths and learn your weaknesses, helps you organize the resources around you, and make goals to keep moving forward.
The Green Building Registry is the largest single-source data service that connects green and energy efficient home data with real estate multiple listing services across the US. It’s provided as a public service so that any homebuyer, real estate agent, or appraiser can find home performance data before and at the time of purchase. It includes national energy efficiency assessments like the HERS Index and the Home Energy Score provided by the U.S Department of Energy, as well as Solar and Green Home Certification data where available.
Having the energy assessments of a home prior to purchasing is extremely important for an appraiser to have when evaluating it against comparable properties to determine the market value of the home. If the data is not available and the home is not energy efficient, thousands of dollars of value could be lost in utilities and home repairs. Having the registry rewards homeowners for having better performing homes, adds value to your property, and increases comfort in the home.
