RESNET revises Chapter 9 of the MINHERS guidelines to set new standards on deciding the number of ratings to get QA Field reviews. The speech previously used in the Pre-drywall QA field reviews was unclear on how many reviews could be given and on the criteria for what the reviews could be used for. Addendum 58f modifies Pre-Drywall Field QA Reviews and educates Quality Assurance Designees (QADs).
Right now, the current language doesn’t seem to educate the HERS Rater/Rating Field Inspector of activities at the pre-drywall stage such as insulation verification, insulation grading, framing verification, framing factor verification, and total duct leakage testing, but instead appears to stress QA reviews at the final stage. The intent of Addendum 58f is for QADs to perform one or more pre-drywall field review(s) on each HERS Rater or Rating Field Inspector. Pre-drywall QA Field reviews can be used to meet all or part of the annual QA Field review requirements for a HERS Rater or RFI with the following limitation: Pre-Drywall Field QA Reviews may NOT be used to satisfy the full field QA requirement for a given rater or RFI in consecutive years.
With this new Addendum in place, QADs will be able to successfully perform their Field QA Reviews and instruct our HERS Raters and Rating Field Inspectors at the same time. This will also ensure that proper measures are taken during and after construction to make sure a home is energy efficient.
Interim Addendum 64i has been approved by RESNET and will revise Chapter 3 of MINHERS standards for Multi-Family Dwelling Units Sampling.
The purpose of Interim Addendum 64i is to continue use of the RESNET Guidelines for Multifamily Energy Ratings’ conditions for inspection and test sampling when Standard ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2019 replaces the Guidelines for HERS ratings on January 1, 2022. It is also to be used until the MINHERS Chapter 6 is updated to include sampling requirement specific to multifamily buildings.
